NPI - Providers
Emdeon Business Services is prepared to accept NPI on claims and RT transactions. Emdeon encourages providers to send both the NPI and legacy identifiers and Emdeon will send on to the payer the appropriate identifiers based on the NPI requirements of the payer.
On claims, Emdeon verifies that submitted NPI are ten-digit numeric and validates the check digit in the last position.
For ERA if Emdeon receives the NPI from payers it will be returned to the provider.
